Hi, I’m DH, and this blog will be a little glimpse into my world. I’m a lifelong scifi and superhero fan with a love for movies, games, architecture, music, and design. In my life as a writer, artist, musician, gamer, and overall tech geek, I’ve worked on a lot of different projects by myself and with others. Now I’m putting all of those skills to use (and hopefully learning a few more) for a much bigger project.
We’ve moved across the US to update a 110 year old house in an old steel town. The goal is to undo years of neglect and decades of questionable design choices by previous owners, but also to give this place some extra life and functionality that goes well beyond what the builders ever could have dreamed of. And all of that will be done in a manner that has plenty of references to my scifi and superhero roots.
As a gamer, I’ve always loved the fact that we can build our own worlds, so I’ll be taking that approach as we work on this house with a simple message in mind — Build the world you want to play in.
So follow along as I start on the first project — bringing modern gigabit home networking to life in a home that was built before even our great grandparents would have had access to home radios.
